I’m here for Bucky and Shuri developing a friendship. Shuri makes him a new arm and teaches him how to use the Wakandan version of Snapchat so that Bucky can make his little sand-avatar appear out of Steve’s phone and scare the crap out of him. Bucky only ever feels safe in Wakanda, since it’s one of the few places in the world that HYDRA didn’t infiltrate. Bucky takes Shuri to New York and after she gets over the horror of trash in the street and the fucking rats she listens to Bucky talk at great length and with great affection about the trash in the street and the fucking rats. Nakia lurks in the background–she’s a fucking spy, she knows all about the Winter Soldier–but even she eventually has to admit that Bucky seems pretty committed to protecting Shuri at all costs.

He slips up once and calls her “Becca” then stares into space for a few seconds. When Shuri nudges him, he mumbles, “I had a little sister. I just remembered her.”

Shuri smiles and takes his hand. “I’m sure you would take your little sister to Disneyland, yes?”

(She sends T’Challa a Sandchat photo of her in Mickey Mouse ears and a smug expression. T’Challa’s eyes narrow dangerously. “Nakia, I’m going to buy Disneyland.” “T’Challa, no.” “T’Challa yes.”)
