Dec. 30th, 2018 02:40 pmAs @utterwonderfulnonsense and I were driving home from dinner last night, I was playing Pokemon Go on both our phones. We passed a gym that was undeclared; only a few feet away, it turned blue (our color). I told her and--being a Californian--she pulled a U-turn. We went into the parking lot, put in a couple of 'mons, and then pulled back out onto the road.
Immediately, a cop pulled us over. He was a younger guy who said he saw us do the U-turn and then we popped out "right in front of me" and continued on our way. He asked for the reason of the U-turn and if we "saw something."
@utterwonderfulnonsense, being a very honest person, said that we were playing Pokemon Go. The cop kind of laughed, gave us back our insurance and registration, ran her license, then let us go with a warning.
Me to her, afterwards: "You realize, of course, that the reason he saw us do the U-turn and pop out in front of him was because he was sitting next to that gym, and is likely the person who turned it blue."
Her: "MY GOD."
