As @utterwonderfulnonsense and I were driving home from dinner last night, I was playing Pokemon Go on both our phones. We passed a gym that was undeclared; only a few feet away, it turned blue (our color). I told her and--being a Californian--she pulled a U-turn. We went into the parking lot, put in a couple of 'mons, and then pulled back out onto the road.

Immediately, a cop pulled us over. He was a younger guy who said he saw us do the U-turn and then we popped out "right in front of me" and continued on our way. He asked for the reason of the U-turn and if we "saw something."

@utterwonderfulnonsense, being a very honest person, said that we were playing Pokemon Go. The cop kind of laughed, gave us back our insurance and registration, ran her license, then let us go with a warning.

Me to her, afterwards: "You realize, of course, that the reason he saw us do the U-turn and pop out in front of him was because he was sitting next to that gym, and is likely the person who turned it blue."

Her: "MY GOD."

My fiance and I have 100% taken the long way home to either battle a gym, do a raid, or to hit up a bunch of pokestops. NO SHAME. We haven't been pulled over by the police for it though. Not yet anyway LOL.

Great story! It's been so hot lately that we've been going out very early in the morning to hit up nearby gyms and make the most of the double incubator distance. It always feels like doing Instinct and Valor a favour when we clear them out first thing in the morning.
